Wedding Thoughts

Chelsea baby

Chelsea is loving, thoughtful and kind-hearted. She is a gentle soul who thinks of others before herself.

My days have been blessed more than I deserve having her for a daughter.

Planning the wedding has been graceful, and organized because Chelsea is like that. Lists, spreadsheets, details, addresses, budget, all I have to do is follow her lead. Martin and Chelsea make a good team, they are both equally involved with their to-do lists.

Deciding what traditions they want for their wedding day since French and American traditions vary.

Budget checked.

Date checked.

Venue checked

Church and Priest checked

Guest list checked.

Caterer checked.

Invitations in the making,

Collect addresses gathering,

Flowers checked.

Music checked.

Wedding dress and suit checked.

Rings checked.

The Priest asked them to compose their ten commandments for their marriage that they could renew each year, and refer to during their married life, and now he is helping them plan the Mass.

Now the smaller details come to the stage, and there are plenty.

Chelsea and Martin have it under control.

So far I would say the direction or theme could be called a simple elegance.

The one thing I have to do is find a dress and that is going to be interesting. I wish I had a seamstress.

From back home, my Mom and three of my brothers, their wives, plus a niece, nephew, a handful of cousins and a few friends are coming.

The days before and after the wedding are going to be such an explosion of love, I imagine afterward I will not want it to end.

. I am staying in your house next door in June…. Our daughter got married 18 months ago . It was such a sacred and blessed time. I enjoyed every minute of the prep and the actual day itself. I poured myself into the decor and little details made the event special. The effort was worth it. Their theme was organic elegance !?!? This is such a special special time. I must say the moment they were pronounce man and wife was unexpectedly emotional. It is not often we witness such landmark transitions in our children’s’ lives. We danced the night away !!!
I wore a white shirt and vintage floor length skirt .. beautifully embroidered in gold thread. Your outfit will find you

My friend flew to Hong Kong and had the most beautiful mandarin collared, yellow silk, embroidered jacket made, which she wore with a black shell and long black straight floor length skirt with a slit up the left side. She has snow. white long hair she wore pulled back in a loose French feeling style. She was stunning.

And I would highly recommend a “day of the wedding” check list for both you and Chelsea. If I hadn’t done that I’m not sure our daughter’s wedding would have gone as smoothly as it did. Even down to things like having envelopes with tip money ready, IF that’s even done in France. It’s so easy to forget the little things because it’s such an emotional and exciting day and things tend to move much more quickly than you could imagine. Good luck!!! I’m sure it will be PERFECT.

Lists are wonderful & keep updating….a shorthand notebook is my right hand, could not live without it. You must have one too Corey, it takes the stress away….and when you think of something at 2am write it down!! I have a little torch on bedside table so I don’t wake anyone up!!
The excitement & adrenaline will keep going for days, even weeks, take the time to enjoy it is such a precious time…..& what bliss for you….your Mum & family sharing it with you.
I can remember my wedding day nearly 53 years ago & it was the time I spent with my Mum & Dad that I treasure, now that they have both died especially walking down the aisle with my Dad. I think you better have some tissues Corey for yourself & Yann. xx

    It sounds simply wonderful.
Love the 10 Commandments idea, BTW.

  9. Such a beautiful time. Blessings to everyone.
I like the idea of the ten commandments of marriage.
Love and blessings to you all
I am so happy you include us in your happiness.
    Love Jeanne

  10. For one wedding , I found my dress t week before and had to alter it myself, but it all worked out. It always does.

  11. So much love in the planning. I love the 10 commandments for marriage idea. Can’t wait to see all the ensuing photos.

The anticipation will be the most difficult for now. But there is obviously so much love being put into the preparations that there will be a veritable explosion of emotion, love and joy! Thank you, and your family for sharing so much as you go!

  13. A week before, okay there is hope for me! But I am not a good seamstress.

  14. I tell Chelsea and she writes it all down.
And tissues are needed now, I cannot even imagine a dry eye during the wedding.

  15. Yes that is what we did today. Started that list.

  16. Your friend sounds stylishly glorious.

  17. Oh send me a photo(s) please!

Both my son and older daughter are married. Both weddings could not have been more different. Both were outrageously fun and went by in a blink of an eye. Both were more deeply emotional than our own. Enjoy every single second and never sweat the small stuff. I am so happy for you and your beautiful family!

  19. How wonderful it all sounds. I do wish I had been able to meet Chelsea when I was in Saint Zacharie. If she is at all like you, all will be in such good taste. Such happiness in the planning.

  20. Shelley Noble

So happy for you and Chelsea. Wishing her married life with Martin to be blessed with abundant joys always.

So sweet! Your on your way. My daughter got married 4 years ago. I can imagine the thrill and excitement. There was stress, fun, decisions, lots of mixed emotions but the evening of the wedding was soo beautiful and joyous, I never wanted it to end. So happy for you!

Oh Corey, I can see you looking very elegant with your own individual flourish; I hope you put your hair up on the day. Wish I was with you helping to find your outfit…I’m sure you’ll look stunning. Such a lovely time XX
