It Was a Beautiful Day

It was a beautiful day today.

I was going to the market this morning but the moment I stepped outside I turned around and went back in to take off my tights and my sweater. The weather went from coats to mid-70s as quickly as a gazelle over the mountaintop. Life happens like that knowing without knowing, noticing without noticing. Timeless over time.

It was a beautiful day today, the warm sun called on everything to wake up as if opened a kaleidoscope letting it spill out.

Our first rose bloomed.

I ate lunch outside. Later we had dinner with Martin's parents we talked wedding, and suits and what to wear and laughed at ourselves.

The evening air was soft, poppies are going to be lush this year.

This evening I heard that our dear sweet lovely friend Alain died. How could that be? When I think I won't hear his laughter, and I cannot imagine Nelly without him.

Love full heartedly, let go of that which is trivial, if only I did not need a wake-up call to remember that each moment.

Alain, I hope you knew how much you were loved, I hope you laughed today and at that moment between here and there you saw the gracious mark your life left upon us.

What a beautiful man you were, we will miss you.

Please keep Nelly and his family in your prayers.

Thoughts and a prayer for Nelly and Alain. In the midst of life we are surrounded by death…. Also extend my thoughts to you and your family – grieving together is healing in itself. I know about that – it helps.
Since today we are eating all meals in our veranda, summer was upon us without a moment’s warning, one day we had to heat and the next day the washing dried in less time than the next washing was done. Let the sun warm the inside of our hearts too.
