Heading South

Last night in Paris was an evening of musical beds. I woke up several times to check on my nieces, as I know the first night away from home can be a bit sad, and jet lag can have you wide awake in the middle of the night. Each time I checked on them it seemed someone had hopped beds, my youngest niece joined me in my bed around 4am.

This morning we had to be at the train station early to catch the train to the south of France, I felt like the wicked witch having to wake them up, but they did so without any fuss. We made it out of the apartment in record speed, thirty minutes and caught the metro to Gare de Lyon where we had breakfast before catching the TGV.

We will stay in the south for a few days before heading back to Paris. Hopefully, the sun will come out and summer will stop playing hide and seek with us.

Those two did not sleep on the train, but the rest of us sure did.

Jet lag behind them the adventure really begins!

If I were your niece I’d ask if I could live with you in France for a couple years:) Hey, aren’t we related somehow??? I love the photo of the two nieces sleeping.

Did some of you snap any photos out the train window? Only a few of ours were non-blurry, but we treasure them as a remembrance of what we saw en route to/from Marseille. If you didn’t, maybe you can try on your way back to Paris!

Great pictures of the art nouveau stairway. I know your lovely nieces will have a memorable trip. They have the best guide around. 😉

  4. This is a wonderful gift for them–the adventure, the memories, the experience abroad and above all, the time together.

Lovely photographs of happy nieces in Paris, Corey! Looking at your nieces’ faces as you introduced them to Paris, I remember my first time in France, as an exchange student of 17, and I can just imagine how much it means to your nieces, and would have meant to me, to see the city through your eyes and gentle shepherding.

  6. I’m enjoying this adventure as I’m planning to bring my granddaughter in t near future.

  8. Sweet girls. So, you will all be back in Paris for the Fete de Musique? Has it really been four years since we were there and enjoying that very festival? Precious memories. I know you are having a wonderful time.

  9. What a dream come true for each of them. They will never forget this kindness and the love you are sharing with them. Loving following along. Thanks for sharing it with us.
