The day after (or I should say a few hours after since the wedding ended around four in the morning!) family and friends gathered at Martin's parent's home for an outdoor luncheon and BBQ. My three brothers did the BBQ-ing and afterward, they jumped in the pool with most of their clothes on to cool down.
Martin's mom Alethe is publicly shy, so much so that she walked down the church aisle with Martin before anyone was in the church, and quietly took a seat. So imagine my surprise when she asked if I would jump in the pool with her in front of 100 plus guests. Unfortunately, I had to tell her that my swimsuit was buried under potted plants, linens, urns, etc etc, of wedding stuff that we packed haphazardly in the car at seven thirty in the morning. Teasingly, I offered we could follow my brother's lead and jump in the pool with our clothes on…"
Shockingly, she agreed. I didn't believe she would do it …
We took off our glasses and shoes.
In front of us, about thirty or forty or so people were in the pool drinking champagne.
We took center stage.
Alethe might be shy but she is far more athletic than I am, she rides a motorcycle.
I was pleased to see out of my corner eye that she plugged her nose too.
Thank you for asking about, commenting, sending emails, sending cards, gifts, and sharing your joy and blessings towards Martin and Chelsea's wedding.
I will post more about the wedding as the days go by, but wanted to add the pool party because it was a crazy fun moment and as I rarely do anything in a straight line, or a through z, it seemed like a good time to share the pool party. Of course I will go back to the wedding details later.
As I did not take photos at the wedding or during the reception I appreciate and want to thank Sophie, Alice, Julie, Allison, Mari, Manuella… who shared their photos with me so that I could share them on my blog these last few days and days to come
