Far across the endless sky and over the blue divide my family has safely arrived home.
Everything is in its place, life continues and the clock ticks.
Except for my heart which is fuller and when I close my eyes technicolor memories come to center stage.
How wonderful it was that my family was able to come to Chelsea and Martin's wedding. Each happy moment of these
last several weeks has my family in them. My brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, my mom, close friends, Sacha, Yann, Chelsea, and Martin.
Memories that pop up like Jack in the box, that make me smile: Sam dancing, walking along the Seine with Marty's family, Diane and Mark walking back from Notre Dame hand in hand, stories of getting lost, my mom's uncanny ability to unlocking creative force, Chelsea's veil in graceful motion in the breeze, my brothers one by one canon balling into the pool, sparklers, Andy's comments about our home so generous and thoughtful, pizza, beer bottles, Martin jumping up and down, bowties, the dessert table and Zane telling me which desserts to try (basically all of them), my mom's comment, "I am going to try everything and maybe even two or three times.", Leslee's smile, Sacha crying with extreme happiness on the dance floor, baby Lou with an olive wreath on her head, David's playing his version of Pacabel canon in D when Chelsea walked into the church, Marty dancing with my mom, Patti being showered with holy water while she held the wedding rings and not flinching, a yellow dress, the Isnard organ playing boldly as we left the church, rose petals galore, Yann's arm around my waist when Chelsea and Martin said their vows, Martin swirling Chelsea around in her wedding dress, my brother's thinking the singing cigales were electrical wires humming, the song, "I got options" stuck in Patti and my head, Zane and Sam wearing my old top hats, Sacha's speech, Stephan poolside and both of us saying, "Cruise Mode" at the same time, walking back home thinking Suzy was coming up behind me with the car so I pretended to hitchhike by sticking my leg out and lifting up my dress only to find out that it wasn't Suzy but instead an unknown man, Martin's little cousin taping paper notes that said, "life jacket" on family and friends putting one on Chelsea's friend Clem's nine months pregnant belly, Juju reading Song of Solomon at the wedding, a rush of familiar faces beaming with joy, having an impromtu party by the fountain filled with drinks, Marty making sure Martin didn't fall when his friends hoisted him in the air, penning a charm to the inside of Chelsea's wedding dress that Jackie made for her, a rich bottomless sea of love surrounding us because my parents raised us well… Everyone celebrating, feasting, smiling, dancing, just being in the moment.
God, it was good, no it was truly divine.
