Jeans and a Tee Shirt

Nude man

French Husband hates shopping.

Any type of shopping:

Food,

Furniture,

Paint,

Light bobs (as he calls them, and I never want him to stop calling them 'light bobs')

Clothes, especially clothes.

He shops for buildings and I buy his clothes.

For Chelsea's wedding if I hadn't pulled him to the shops he probably would have shown up in his stans, jeans, and a well-worn tee shirt. By the reactions of our friends, I think they were surprised he didn't.

As shopping for clothes is one of French Husband's biggest pet peeves, he dares not to complain about what I bring home for him to wear.

Flowered shirts,
Pink sweaters,
Long overcoats,
Pastel scarves,
Polka dotted underwear,
Black socks (some things must remain basic),
Red patent shoes…

Wear it or go naked is the underline thought.

Though…

Naked might not be a bad option.

Do you like to shop?

I prefer to shop for others than for myself.

  1. I do not like shopping for myself. It’s a chore to do so. I would rather shop some local art shops here and antique shops. I am really getting excited about seeing Christmas things in these shops.
I do like the idea of red patent leather shoes for my husband. Thanks for the idea. He needs to be a little more daring.

I was born to shop! I buy all of DH’s clothes and he doesn’t mind at all. As an antique dealer I have a “license to shop.” I am at the point where I don’t need a thing and neither does DH, I have more inventory than I can manage, my sisters don’t want any more “stuff” for birthday’s or Christmas, so shopping is on hold for a while. My nephew is getting married next year so I’ll get to do some shopping.

  3. I love to shop when I have the money for it. But I also love looking, the fun is in the search.

I would love to shop for my husband, but he could not care less about clothing. I would buy a size down because he buys too large. He’s in great physical shape, oh how I’d like to put him in tight T-shirts and skinny jeans. Alas, it’s not to be…. but perhaps it is best for me to only know.

Ha! My husband is quite a dandy and loves to shop for clothes. He has more than I do. He’s particularly drawn to gaudy Hawaiian (or similar tropical…big collection from Africa) shirts.
Good for you on the socks. Something that hit me on my first trip to Europe in the early ’80s was men wearing white socks with suits. So dignified…and then white socks! My husband was doing it when I met him and I made him stop. My stepdaughter thought I was nuts. Dark socks are sold here. Does nobody but expat wives buy them?

  6. I don’t like to shop, but I like to discover when I’m not looking for anything. That’s how I get my clothes, go shopping for bread and see something in another shop window. Accidental shopping 🙂 But I love going to a market or deli and buying special foods. And I love antiquing and visiting fleamarkets looking for a ‘find’ at a really good price.

Used to be much more of a shopper than i am now. Only shop if I’m on a mission. I couldn’t believe Yann doesn’t like to shop as he’s always at the brocante with you.

  8. Oh how I miss shopping. When I lived in Southern California I was known for my shopping prowess. But since moving to Northeastern Nevada 13 years ago, I am shopping challenged as there isn’t much shopping unless you want to shop for ranching gear. I have always said that shopping was my spiritual gift – not for myself, but for finding the perfect gift for someone else. My spiritual gift isn’t as fine tuned on line unfortunately. I’m a tactile shopper – I like to touch.

  9. Like you I shop for clothing for the family. Both my husband and son dislike clothes shopping. Both are pretty conservative so I stick mostly with the classics for them. That said, I love a pink shirt or red pants on a man. Some really carry this off very well. Others not so much.

Oh Corey, I’m so glad to know you are doing the shopping for him! Here in Texas a man wearing a pink shirt or pants might be considered to be a bit “sweet”. Ha! (Sorry if I offend)

unfortunately, i adore shopping…..and I buy all my Marine husband’s clothes, and he wears pink gingham-checked shirt, and mango linen shirt, and looks FAB….and we live in Fort Worth!
