I Follow You Deep Sea Baby

The Ebb and Flow Cassis

A storm is brewing in Cassis.

Thunder sets the tone, rain followed and the beach emptied within seconds.

French Husband went sailing the other day with a friend, and the friend brought along two teenage boys and a big dog.

The bunch of would-be sailors are out depending on French Husband.

When I heard about the dog I thought, "I am so glad I did not go with them."

I am not worried, though I did walk out to the beach last night thinking, "I hope you don't sail in a storm."

Life

Ebb and flow,

Give and take,

Love may it come steadily upon your shore,

Soft, smooth, even…

And then when it goes back to the deep profound sea may it sing.

….

By two in the afternoon the sky clears, the sea reflects its color,
the beach bathers have returned.
And I am certain French Husband did not even blink an eye.

  1. I think “French Husband” loves the thrill of it all. How wonderful to be by the sea.

So glad they are safe…I don’t like boats plus a dog!! Hope he wasn’t sea sick 😊😊

A few words about our experiences with dogs and boats for Corey and Leonie: We have spent 43 years of married life canoeing, sailing, motor boating and kayaking with children (from very early ages) and dogs (ours and guests, from Golden Retrievers to terrier mixes to dachshunds). Without question, boating and water play have been the most fun when children and/or dogs have been with us. Each of the dogs has proved to be an adept and confident swimmer; has lifeguarded and never tried to climb on us in the water; and has loved being, and been at his/her best behavior, in the water craft, in the water and on the beach. And none of them ever has been sea sick (even on the giant swells of the Columbia River). They have been far better mariners than any of us humans!

  4. I LOVE THIS!

  5. I’m sure French husband had a grin a mile wide throughout!

  6. Phew! I would have been walking the beach too. 🙂
    All is well.

AP News had an article about the high winds and storms from Norway all the way down to the Gard this morning. I hope everything is OK. Please let us know!

  8. Sailing is a great adventure. Weather and conditions can change in the blink of an eye and these conditions require skill and knowledge. That said, a sail boat can cruise in the wind at a 45 degree angle and be perfectly safe. This is so much fun. Sun and sea, looking in to the horizon. My ideal boat is not less that 30 feet long. This is ideal for weekend over night sails. Corey, have you been sailing? This might be a great hobby for you and Yann… The sailing destinations from France are superior. Can you tell??? I love to sail…

  9. I second all of this except that Saint Bernards in canoes don’t mix. Who knew they couldn’t swim? 😀

  10. laughing truly….I never knew they were unable to swim….brandy delivery in snow is their forte
