Evening Comes

  The end of the day

The sun sends forth the last rays of light, it pours through my kitchen

window and spreads across the table,

I smile as I witness the simple beauty of the moment.

the surrendering of the day.

Shadows arrive,

hush tones fill the air and in the near distance a silence rings out,

the mood changes as gracefully as the curtain falls.

What is your favorite time of the day?

  1. Early morning just as the sun is rising. Peaceful!

  2. HAPPY HOUR! OX

  3. Your words and photo are perfect.
I don’t think I have a favorite time of day… It depends on the day, and I either know it when I’m in it, or I relive it at the end of the day in retrospect.

  4. Depends on the time of year. In summer, it’s the coolest hours; in winter, the warmest ones. Of course, spring is my favorite season, because there are on average more hours per day that are comfortable.

It is the “Bluehour”. I love early morning before the heat of the day… I love fall as a season when the colors deepen, the air cools and the kids are back in school. My favorite time to vacation.

  6. I love fall too (for that reason, Vicki), and I love mornings on Sunday, nighttime when the stars are at their brightest, and that photo of your’s is beautiful!

  7. End of the day, when a hush falls over the land. Everything settles and families come home to be together.

    L’heure blue

  9. L’heure blue, also.
But with all that, seen from your window, I wonder how silence can fall? 🙂
But it’s a beautiful word picture, as well as photo.

  11. Definitely morning, a new day

  12. Sunrise and sunset. Both have a beauty of their own.

  13. In summer, it’s early morning I love best, nice time to walk through the gardens before the heat of the day. In Fall and Winter it’s dusk, a very cozy feel at that time of day. The candle lights are turned on in the windows and the woodstove hums, and it’s a wonderful “nesty” sort of feeling.

  14. I’m a morning person. Did you take that photo? It’s beautiful.
