Bon Appetit

Bread and wine

It starts with a baguette and wine, then depending on the season the flavors unfold the meal,

cheese comes waltzing in towards the end, and lastly with fanfare a dessert with or without coffee.

What part is your favorite?

I prefer salty anything to anything sweet.

Bon appetit?? Did you know …

  1. I wish I were indulgent enough to follow the say, “Life is uncertain, so eat dessert first.”
I also love good bread with good butter. And a cup of tea to wash it down.

  2. ERRATUM: …to follow the saying

  3. Interesting that you prefer savory over sweet. That bread looks great!

  4. Bread with good butter for me too, but then depending on the mood and day it is either sweet or salty.

  5. Definitely savory over sweet! I’m never without a good bread and cheese. I only eat desserts once every couple of months but I do love lots of fruit.

  6. I could eat bread and butter before ever having a sweet anything! Anybody not go for chocolate the way I don’t?? Could care less if it ever came across my path. Oh dear🤔

  7. Yay, more chocolate for me!

I too prefer savory over sweet, so my favorite course at dinner is the plat principal. For breakfast and lunch, though, and with a bit of cheese at dinner, I prefer, and often have, whatever fruit is in season, particularly berries, served without sweetener or anything else. (Of course, I find baguettes and croissants, as well as French butter, delicious, but I must and do avoid all three, at least until I can trust myself to eat them in moderation.)

  9. Definitely savory.

  10. A cheese plate at any time…of course with red wine

A French baguette with the Camembert cheese you served for one lunch at a beautiful castle. There was a skittish dog and beautiful ponds. I will never forget!

  12. I’m on Team Savory!
BTW, Corey, I’m a long time reader and first time commenter who so enjoys your
photos and stories. The new blog name and layout are so great!!

  13. Gosh, you do need someone to prefer sweet! Me. Though I must admit I really just prefer good food, plus enjoyable company.
