That Favorite Thing of Mine

French la Vie, Corey Amaro: Ephemera

French Ephemera.

I have a thing for it.

Crazy truth.

Whenever I see old French paper I have to stop to check it out.

Name cards, invitations, announcements…

Bits of a history of a story once lived.

The amazing book I bought from the man I have called, "The Paper Guy" for years.

Once upon a time I found … dated 1739 from King Louis the 13th. It was one of the best things I have ever found.

Books without covers, exposing a certain je ne sais quoi?

I told you…

Please tell me you flipped about something not human too?

Shelves, boxes, baskets, drawers FULL.

I doubt you can retire from that sort of passionate drive.

  1. I could love paper, but wondering what you do with all of it? I guess my weakness is linens.

  2. The beauty of it all….

  3. It’s so immediate, isn’t it? And amazing how long it has survived, whereas my digital documents from five years ago are inaccessible without undergoing a conversion to the new software.

I share your love of, and passion for, old French (and also, in my case, Russian) papers (including but not limited to maps) on which someone has written, drawn or otherwise expressed or depicted something. Especially since I have not been in a position to search for those old papers very often, I love reading about, and studying the photographs of, French ones in your blog.
Thank you for writing about and sharing your photographs of them, Corey! 💜

Oh my, I love this! The music sheets and your 1739 book!?! Perfection!I have love letters from the mid 1800s of my grandparents when they were saying and first married when he was of to war. Treasures!

  6. Glad the picture of you with The Paper Guy enlarges. That book you found is incredible. All these letters give you a window to another time. The menus do the same.
The last few pictures of letters…the script is beautiful, but challenging to read.

  7. I have about 5 small drawers of paper stored away for making cards and tags, vintage papers however none from Europe which I would love to have a couple sheets anyway.
Then I have a chest of drawers full of Christmas greeting cards, special cards
I have never read any papers from 1800’s little lone 1700’s

That seems an inappropriate comment for this type of blog. I think it is worthy of deleting.
