Some of you have been following my blog since the beginning, thirteen years ago and those of you who have left comments during that time and still now I feel I know you and there is an undeniable relationship between us. And now after all these years, I am meeting your children!
Today I had the great pleasure of meeting Miss Claire Di is Claire's mom. Di homeschooled her five children, Clair has a captivating rock star personality bright and fun or as Yann teased, "Amusant". Late this afternoon she whipped up a stovetop lavender potpourri.
We posted a video on my Instagram stories.
An antique copper pot is how it all started. I had this tiny copper pot hanging with my kitchen utensils that Claire found adorable and started to share how she likes to make Christmas stovetop potpourri. I said I wish we could make some but I did not have most of the ingredients that she used so I asked if she knew how to make lavender stovetop potpourri and she said no but let's give it a try. I love a let's do it spontaneous soul.
We went to my courtyard and cut twenty or so dried lavender heads with their leaves and arranged them in the pan, then we covered the lavender with water and brought it to a boil for a few minutes. Then we added half a teaspoon of vanilla and let it simmered for a few hours. Natural lavender scent.
Oh my, our home smelled like a refreshing scent straight from of a summer day.
Dear Di,
Your daughter is delightful and I am going to keep her.
Thank you,
C
