How to Fake French

How to Fake French. The clip has four steps on how to fake French, No. # 2 is especially true. Did I ever tell you about the time I had an entire conversation with a French saleswoman by making sounds similar to step NO. # 2. Well, I did, and in the end, I bought a blouse from her shop.

  1. Sounds good! Now I need to come to France and try it out.

  2. I’ll bet you know every French word for items at the brocante. 😉

Corey, this is so funny and so true. It works in Italy too. The only thing I knew how to say to the owner in Italian when I was admiring a beautiful villa I was walking by was, “mi dispachia no parla biena Italiano”, which I think means, I’m sorry I don’t speak Italian. She was so delighted, she took me on an hour long tour, chattering in Italian the entire time, while I just oohed and aahed and smiled the entire time. I knew enough to say, “Gratia” when I left and she kissed me on both cheeks in that grand Italian way. It was a lovely experience

This was so funny! There are times when we watch an Australian movie, although it is in English, we still have to turn on the subtitles so we can understand it. True of the UK or Scotland movies since the accents and word pronunciations are different.
I have worked with Expats from other countries and it is very interesting. One Accounting Mgr. from Germany when asked a question, she would answer with “eh”. I never knew if it was yes or no. Then at a team building happy hour & dinner, after a glass of wine, she was very amicable and chatty (in English).
I would love to be multi-lingual in the romance languages.
