An Old Scrapbook

A few years ago I found this turn of the century scrapbook, there wasn't any writing, nor name in the book, instead, there were

plenty of cards, chromos, and images. I sold it a month ago.

  1. I have an old scrapbook very similar to this one, that belonged to my great-grandmother. She came out to Saskatchewan as a settler when she was just 17 years old (the little village her father homesteaded near is named after her; she was the first white woman in the area), and wouldn’t have had money to collect many fancy postcards, but there are some glued in along with many poems and articles clipped from newspapers. She especially liked the words to songs. I never met her, but have many more of her things — dishes and such.
You’ve inspired me to take some pictures of it for my own blog. -Kate

  2. My mother-in-law kept scrapbooks and picture albums sometimes in duplicate for different family members. It was sad to let many go after she died. We kept just what was special to us and let the rest go. I know my children don’t want much of what we have; so I enjoy and then will have an estate sale when the time comes. I have taken pictures of some of my old artwork, but hadn’t thought to take of scrapbooks.

  3. Enjoyed seeing these images from 1900 or so! Like girls playing with their hoops.

  4. I see old photographs at flea markets and feel bad that families didn’t save them, don’t even know who’s in the photos. So I took on the task of scanning every single photo that my dad put into albums. Many of them are so faded you cannot tell what they are. Luckily I have a program that can restore old faded photos. So far I have scanned 1300 family photos and will save them to thumb drives that I will send to my ten brothers and sisters. I probably still have another 2000 left to scan. I don’t want to be that family in a basket for sale at the flea market.

  5. Gorgeous scrap book for sure, who ever bought it is a happy person I’m sure.
I just never see those anymore at sales.I love all the colors also
