Renovating a Place in Cassis

Just in case you are wondering what I have been up to …

My friend Ching and Gary bought an apartment in Cassis they hired Golden Hands Rene to do the renovations and asked me if I would guide them with the numerous decisions they need to make.

The first part of renovating is removing that which is not needed or wanted. When renovating an old place you never know what you will find when you take off the old flooring, walls, and ceilings luckily for us the surprising have been positive.

Underneath the dropped 1980s ceiling we found a vaulted ceiling made with red brick and iron. Rene and I are considering options as in what we can do to keep authentic while cleaning it up.

Meanwhile, it is back to dust, ideas, measuring, and visualizing plus collaborating with friends on their dream home away from home.

I will add a bunch of photos tomorrow.

What projects are you involved in?

  2. Interesting! Looking forward to following along this process with you!

  3. Went to market, read, made butternut squash soup, and then a Nice log fire. That’s about it. A good day.

  4. I was just thinking yesterday.. I wonder how this project of yours has been going. My big project is cleaning out two closets, and planning a trip to see family this summer. Nothing like you.

Thrilled to come along on another adventure with you and Rene. Is this near your place? I am building a house. It is a daunting task. I am about 4 months from completion.

  6. I am creating an upstairs suite with two bedrooms and a bathroom at my farmhouse in Prince Edward Island. Guests can rent the upstairs while I live downstairs. Rearranging some wicker chairs and deciding on an upstairs coffee maker is about as thorough as I’m taking it…but can’t wait to see pics of the brick and iron!!!

  7. Just made chocolate chip cookies with 5 yr. Old granddaughter. Great fun.

Our latest projects are travel related – just finished a delightful week with a private client, helping her discover her roots in Italy. We explored, with her, places that were also new to us, such as Pèsaro on the Adriatic coast, and the tiny village of Piagge where her grandparents were from. It was really entertaining both to plan and to explore together. Looking forward to lots more similar fun in 2019!
