Q/A Second Part of What Some of You Have Asked Me

Garden grows, Corey Amaro; Living in France

Do you like to garden? Or to design gardens?

I like to pick flowers in the gardens. I like to sit in beautiful gardens. I admire my mom's garden. I do not mind gardening but it is not something I think to do instead I do it out of necessity. I like to take photos of gardens. Do I like to design gardens? Not as much as I like buying garden elements.

Family

Other than family and friends what do you miss most about the United States?

Oh, that is an interesting question. If you had asked me that 30 years ago it would have been a very different response, and yet another different response twenty years ago. But now I have spent more time living in France than living in the States. At first (other than family and friends) I missed everything: Driving, talking, understanding, culture, food, lifestyle…

But not I feel more French than American. What I miss is teasing and joking in English, I miss big parking spots, customer service, no smoking zones, places like San Francisco, Westport, and my childhood church. But what I miss most…

My mother's home.

When you are talking with a French person who also is conversant in English, do you most often speak in French or English?

Most of my French friends I speak French to unless their English is better than my French, and it is the same way if I speak to a random French person I will speak French to them unless their English is superior to my French.

I have assumed that Chelsea and Sacha have dual citizenship and found myself wondering if Chelsea's child will also have dual citizenship.

Yes, Chelsea and Sacha have dual citizenship, and Chelsea's baby will too.

More to come tomorrow.

Enjoying the Q & A. My question is: Where do you store everything you buy at the brocantes to be sold later? Do
you have someone who packs it up and ships it out? Do you do your own bookkeeping? All of which are time consuming chores.

I also enjoyed reading these answers. Dual citizenship is a good thing….my sister just got her Canadian after living there 20 years.

  3. Can Chelseas baby have dual citizenship? I think she has to prove over 4 years of physical presence in the US before age 18 to pass along her American citizenship? (Asking as my children have gotten their US citizenship from me, but as I understand it, they won’t be able to give it to their own children). 🙂 Or maybe Chelsea can pass the physical presence test, and maybe its also none of my business!

Ashley, I’ve been told a different variation of that as well for children not born in US. Such thing have and will change over time.

Wow, these are such interesting questions – and such interesting answers.

I’m enjoying the questions that people have asked and most especially your answers. Thank you for being so open and sharing you and your French La Vie with us in a different way than you usually do!

  7. My children are still quite small, in fact one was born in 2018.
