Babies are Sugar Lumps

  Baby's fist

There is something about a baby…

their baby smell, their little hands, their plump ruby lips, pinchable cheeks, silk ribbon tied wrists, their little bald heads…

Babies I am sorry to say I could swallow them whole like a lump of sugar.

Oh, and when they coo.

When they smile in their sleep.

When they want to stay in your arms and do not want you to put them down.

When they are, just as they are, chubby little deliciousness.

When they nibble on your finger, and drool, soaking their clothes.

When they try to stand.

When they want what they want, trying to let you know by their little sounds.

Holding hands

When they hold your finger.

When they make you a family.

When they look into their eyes letting you know your world is no longer your own.

I love babies, I do.

Thankful am I that I had two… even when one of them didn't sleep through the night until he was five years old.

Oh those long sleepless nights, how I would take one of them now with absolute joy!

But only just one…

Love is letting them go into their tomorrows, no matter how much you want to keep them a baby forever.

I love when they do the dance of the happy feet. I love when they fall asleep on your chest, their little sweet smelling head nestled into the crook of your neck. I love the early days when they study your face, thinking their own private thoughts. Oh, the wonderful, memorable days you have coming soon!

  4. The precious moments in life. We must treasure them always.

What wonderfully descriptive words about your love for babies. All I can say about grandbabies is, “You ain’t seen nothing yet!” You won’t be able to find the words……. SO happy for your joy!

  7. Babies can do no wrong, in my book. They are pure, God-created perfection. You are going to do love your grandma status.
