Between Heaven and Earth

There is a place between heaven and earth,

between the mind and the heart,

between ourselves and each other, a sacred place where the imagination grows,

where the spirit expands,

where life fully lives.

The door is continuously open for any of us to enter,

the risk is only in falling deeply in love and not returning the same as we were.

Vulnerable to love to the course it leads.

Your message is in perfect sync with the image. This perfect, alert communication between father and son would have been enough, but you managed to put the cherry on top. Thank you for the gifts.

When our oldest grandchild was born, our daughter and her husband were living with us. Before her birth, my daughter and I walked together when Braxton Hicks contractions were so prevalent in the middle of the night. She and her husband were afraid the first few days that we would attempt to take over the baby, but they soon learned the joys of new dad sleeping in a few minutes later than he normally would be able to do or mom taking a shower without having to rush out with hair still lathered to care for her baby! That baby is now eighteen. I know there must have been extra meals to cook for the 6’4″ new father and my nursing daughter and surely there was extra laundry. My calves must have been tight from walking on tip-toe all the time, trying to walk that line between “being there” and not being too intrusive. I know all that, but I remember none of that. What I remember is the things you will remember. I remember my granddaughter’s sweet “ohhh” cooing with falling notes and my certainty that she was going to be a quiet child, for example. (I was so wrong. LOL.)

  24. pure love. priceless.
