My Favorite Christmas Song

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

 O come, O come, Immanuel,
and ransom captive Israel
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appears.

Refrain:
Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel
shall come to you, O Israel.

O come, O Wisdom from on high,
who ordered all things mightily;
to us the path of knowledge show
and teach us in its ways to go. Refrain

 O come, O come, great Lord of might,
who to your tribes on Sinai's height
in ancient times did give the law
in cloud and majesty and awe. Refrain

 O come, O Branch of Jesse's stem,
unto your own and rescue them!
From depths of hell your people save
and give them victory o'er the grave. Refrain

 O come, O Key of David, come
and open wide our heavenly home.
Make safe for us the heavenward road
and bar the way to death's abode. Refrain

 O come, O Bright and Morning Star,
and bring us comfort from afar!
Dispel the shadows of the night
and turn our darkness into light. Refrain

 O come, O King of nations, bind
In one, the hearts of all mankind.
Bid all our sad divisions cease
and be yourself our King of Peace. Refrain

Psalter Hymnal (Gray)

Another one of mine, a favorite from when Chelsea and Sacha were children:

On Christmas Morning

Waiting throughout the year
For Christmas morning to be here
And counting how many days
Till Christmas morning, drawing near
On Christmas morning I'll wake up bright and early
Be the first one out of bed
With the mistletoe above my head
On Christmas morning we can sing and celebrate
And make the feeling stay
All through the day
Presents under the tree
There's one from me to you and you to me
Family and friends are here
On the very best morning of the year
On Christmas morning I'll wake up bright and early
Be the first one out of bed
With the mistletoe above my head
On Christmas morning we can sing…

    Merry Christmas, Corey, and everyone in your family. I have appreciated your posts each day for years.
    My favorite carol is “We Three Kings of Orient Are.” When I hear the melody I feel that I am traveling on a camel, or rocking chair. It is very comforting. I have been singing it while watching the Great Convergence happen over our San Francisco Bay shoreline. I heard this amazing rendition this year. (Don’t miss the end.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx35_DRIZ8g&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR1HzFHClU6KSSET7KAnPkY7auymjCzoXqZOWnlCdyFqzcOXrA-dzd3DVzo

    Have you ever heard Michael W. Smith’s ChristmasTime Album? It is amazing. My favorite song is “Carols Sing”.

  8. Jim’s favorite is “In the Bleak Midwinter,” one I didn’t know until about ten years ago. It is now my favorite as well.

    In the bleak mid-winter
    Frosty wind made moan;
    Earth stood hard as iron,
    Water like a stone;
    Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
    Snow on snow,
    In the bleak mid-winter
    Long ago.
    Our God, heaven cannot hold Him
    Nor earth sustain,
    Heaven and earth shall flee away
    When He comes to reign:
    In the bleak mid-winter
    A stable-place sufficed
    The Lord God Almighty —
    Jesus Christ.
    Enough for Him, whom cherubim
    Worship night and day,
    A breastful of milk
    And a mangerful of hay;
    Enough for Him, whom Angels
    Fall down before,
    The ox and ass and camel
    Which adore.
    Angels and Archangels
    May have gathered there,
    Cherubim and seraphim
    Thronged the air;
    But only His Mother
    In her maiden bliss
    Worshipped the Beloved
    With a kiss.
    What can I give Him,
    Poor as I am? —
    If I were a Shepherd
    I would bring a lamb;
    If I were a Wise Man
    I would do my part, —
    Yet what I can I give Him, —
    Give my heart
