The Bravest Flower

Violets

Violets.

The bravest little flower

dares to bloom before spring announces itself

Receives a white winter coat and a heavy tiara of raindrop diamonds,

Blooming purple with a note of glee.

Here I am,

such a tender little flower

reminding me of faithfulness against the odds, courage with grace.

  1. Every year my father would bring my mother a bouquet of violets on their wedding anniversary. I never knew the back story, but suspect that when they eloped during the Great Depression, violets might’ve been all he could afford to give her for the wedding.
In later years my dad sometimes had a hard time finding violets to buy, even though he could easily afford them. But he always found some in time.
Sorry, there seems to be a mote of dust in my eye just now…

Beautifully stated Corey; I will share the post with Christine, my friend who creates the flowers for Holy Trinity Nice. These arrangements create cheer for the Facebook followers, for which there are many throughout the world, during the online service.
Kathie, such a sweet story to share.
Peace, love, bonne santé à tous,
    Ella
