Bloom Here I Did

BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED

Bloom where you land.

Bloom with the tiny seed, dirt, and rain.

Trust in the elements that present themselves to you.

So I did when I discovered the brocante.

That was the beginning of truly falling in love with France.

Tell me what watered you the seeds of who you are?

  1. Ella from Nice

    Chère Corey,
Salut d’Amérique where I remain on France time, thus the rapid response to your thoughtful question.
Grâce à vous as your blog continues to inspire and create a community no matter from where one may read your words of wisdom. When I can, my future travels will take me to your village.
For me, hanging clothes on the line in the summer breeze began my odyssey; I was in the small garden of the villa we rented in 1999 outside of Cannes. We had traveled to Nice annually during the 1990’s when Jody — my superstar spouse — selected a long-term rental where we would entertain family and friends for weeks.
Within moments of performing this mundane task I began to understand my mother more. Dixie Lee from Memphis, Tennessee is half French; despite living in Los Angeles (where all seven children were born and raised) we had a garden, goat, chickens and fruit bearing trees.
Mother only came to France once but looking back over our life together I realize just how French she is, from her taste buds, love of antiques and daily chores that include the earth. France is simply in our blood and where I have bloomed.
Bonne fin de semaine à tous,
Ella et Simone (le chien incroyable; that’s another story!)

  2. I have lived in this area all my life. My family friends and a multitude of blessings are what holds me here.
Truly blessed to be in my beautiful part of Canada.
    Blessings

  3. I have lived in Boulder all my adult life. I came to attend the university here. I fell, fell, in love with the town, its Flatirons and the wonderful people here. I married my husband after meeting him at the university and we had kids here and stayed. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last year. My father was in the USAF so before coming to Boulder, I lived in Alabama, England, Montana, France, and Germany. I was a bit of a tumbleweed before I dropped seed here in Boulder. I saw many wonderful places traveling with my family, and each place left is mark, but Boulder is my home.

  4. Good question. Hummm? I think staying with my aunt and uncle during several summers when I was in high school and watching my aunt function in her home with creativity in the kitchen, craft room, and garden – she unknowingly watered my seeds of growth.
