Thank you for your comments regarding my selfies on my blog. Susan suggested

"Selfie on Saturday" I kinda like that. Saturday comes quickly like every day of the week. I will try.

Since many of you asked about my shoes-

I am notorious for not spending a lot on clothes. I tend to be a replacement shopper. My shoes are about five years old they cost me ten euros. They are thrashed on the bottoms but I love them. My skirt is a hand-me-down from my friend Ching who loves to shop and when she grows tired of certain clothing she sometimes passes them on to me. I am a Lucky Duck otherwise I would be wearing god knows what. I am trying to wear colors… we will see how far that goes.

Have you ever had a Pastis?

Do you wear hand-me-downs?

Are you a shopper? I prefer the brocante to clothes I bet you guessed that?!

  1. I grew up on hand-me-downs, so now I prefer buying new.
Have never had a pastis, but I love Provence.

Good morning! I had Pastis once in Nimes, while visiting in 2009.
A good friend from the States was traveling in France for work, and we met up for several days to see the area (my friend speaks fairly decent French). We tried some Pastis on a very warm afternoon, in early October.
A fun memory, back when traveling between Switzerland and France was simply deciding what day to book your train ticket.
I prefer buying 2nd hand clothes, but really, I don’t enjoy shopping for clothing.

  3. I love the selfie idea! You’re so cute and animated in your poses. It will be fun to see more.
I enjoy the hunt for secondhand treasures of all kind: antiques, home decor, wardrobe. My older cousins
would give me hand-me-downs, until I grew to 5’6” and they stayed at 4’11”. I felt like a giant!

Sadly have not tried Pastis, still time for that
I am quite partial to hand me downs, I like to shop at Opportunity Shops…Charity shops and find interesting cast-offs from other people, especially vintage tweed and wool items…I have had great success over the years with some incredible finds, aside from that I like to buy NZ made whenever possible to support our local creatives and I generally prefer to wear Blackl! I accessorise with colour….so don’t change to wearing colour if it is not your style…just add dabs of colour….maybe?
I have also found lots of interesting antiques, textiles et al at charity shops…they are a lot like going to the Brocante!
    Cheers
    Jennifer

  5. I love all your photographs shared. I don’t go shopping often for clothes………I like brand new always. I love books, perfume, jewellery, shoes and many other things, stationery, cards embellishments for letters and many other things. I have not shopped in a long time in person due to covid but my husband has been ordering online for us.
Thanks for all you share with us

  6. I love hand me downs! I grew up in them, from both boys AND my sister. Now that I’m about your age, I still enjoy receiving clothes and jewelry from friends cleaning their parents’ houses. I feel a closeness to them in using their things and certainly appreciate the price:) and not contributing to yet more textiles going into landfills.

  7. I have tried Pastis.
    In Cassis.
    With you and Yann.
    A lovely treasured memory.
    Thank you.
Yes, a shopper. A big shopper!

  8. I like preloved jeans and quirky accessories from charity shops, teamed with new tops. There are a couple of lovely hand me downs from friends in the mix, too. I’m trying to build ‘capsules’of clothes that work together, and to cull/donate atleast as many items as I buy, preferablly more. But am I a shopper?…Sometimes
    Your selfies are delightful.

Ahhh pastis, like Pernod or Ouzo, same concept and all strong.

I think you look lovely in the photo. My hobbies and books come before wardrobe. Transferware wins over new top.
You are always so interesting and I am very jealous of your slender arms.

BIG shopper! I love clothes and have a walk-in closet completely full, which needs to be downsized. I’ve been selling some on eBay. I’ve donated several bags and the closet is still full. I have clothes with tags still on them that I have never worn. Working from home changed everything!
