Feel your feelings

My son-in-law asked me, "How are you feeling?"

Without hesitation I gave the classic response, "I'm fine."

He persisted, "No, really how are you?"

and he paused to listen.

I answered more truthfully.

I knew he wanted to know how I was…

how loving, how loved I felt.

Yes, it is a loving thing to be seen, heard. A blessing to have safe people to share life with, who ask again, how are you feeling, at this moment, right now?
    Thanks for this post, Corey.

All of those emojis combined are embraced by this conversation. Sure we all care and send hugs, but it wonderful how your family is really in tune.

  6. i do not ask someone how they are if i am not really going to listen – and sometimes like Martin i ask again a supermarket clerk who just seems off a neighbor with their head down a child who is usually skipping or singing presents as silent look REALLY LOOK at the person in their being their body language their face -then listen to their response and look at them … this is our job our responsibility to our world and mean it with intention listen –

  7. How fortunate you are. I wonder how the universal…I’m fine…originated…
