New Trend in Paris

When we went to Barcelona to surprise Sacha for his birthday back in June

I noticed that women were not wearing bras,

but it didn't register that it might be a trend or movement like it was in the sixties instead it was

something I noticed without equation …

Until I came to Paris this week. Oh, braless-ness is a thing-

If you want to be in style throw your bra away.

It is a thing and has been for over a year! Hence, I live under a rock when it comes to fashion.

How about you are you into fashion?

Are you braless?

I would have photos but seriously cannot take photos given the subject matter.

Don't dare me.

  1. History repeats itself, so they say. But I’m surprised. I thought by now the trend would be to go shirtless, not just braless…teehee

  2. Gravity as well as modesty preclude the possibility in public. 🙁

    they are so uncomfortable!!

  4. i love going braless– always have! but i also love a pretty bra-i do not like underwire at all and prefer cotton but that doesn’t really exist as we get older- i prefer front closure and racer backs are also a favorite – i guess i could go either way- i like what i like in regards to fashion and really do not follow fads or trends – i prefer vintage especially for handbags – and sweaters-color palette basic no POPS of color i stick with the brands i have worn since high school- no i guess fashion is not really my thing.

I always wondered who invented the bra? A man or a woman? I’m leaning towards a man but I guess I may do some googling to find out.

  6. The bra was revolutionary progress, compared to the previous corsets.

Maybe women working from home during covid lockdowns got used to not wearing a bra every day and now there’s no going back. They may have adjusted to getting out of their pajamas, but not putting on a bra again. Another interesting note is that my almost 94-year old mother lives in a retirement community and she says most of the ladies go braless, including her. She used to have conniption fits when I went braless in the 60s and 70s when I was in my 20s and 30s. I always wore one to work (in offices), but nights and weekends I never wore one. I’m much the same today. I’m retired and wear one out in public because of the gravity issue, but never wear one at home. If it weren’t for the gravity issue, I would have no problem being out in public without one.

I wish I could, but even at 70 years old I still hear my mother and grandmother teaching the benefits of wearing “good foundations”! Bra and,(gulp) girdles! (smile)

    Bonjour à tous,
Oh of all fashion trends to repeat itself! Why not hats, gloves, pearls (no wait, that’s me going to any house of worship). Remembering the 60’s rather well, braless-ness is one trend I will not repeat, jamais.
Although I am not too much into fashion I do try to shop consignment as it is better for the environment (and my budget). But, braless-ness may be a good thing as it could cut down on the disposable, fast fashion that pollutes landfills.
    Bonne journée à tous,
    Ella est là

  10. Lucky them! I wish I could go without but since I was a teenager I always had a big bosom; now a 42DD and at 63yo sagging is in place too so I enjoy the braless only behind closed curtains in my house! 😫😫
Elegant women only go braless if they wear a size 0 or have a very firm bosom; all the others would do well wearing it as my mother used to say to us girls when we were young! 😊

  11. It’s the perfect subject matter for taking pictures of people you do not know! This post added a much needed laugh to my day!

  12. Jennifer Phillipps

Indeed the gravitational pull and volume preclude such an idea, much as I would like to go braless…a nice prospect would be a smaller pair! Jennie

  13. If I had a smaller pair yes.

  14. I have not worn a bra in over a year……………….
    Hugs

I went sans in the 60s and 70s, but as I’ve aged I like the way I look in my clothes better with. And that’s my decision because I’m very visual and just like things to look their best.

  16. Oh how I hate wearing a bra and must admit I’m not too concerned about being a fashionista these days. With that said I have recently purchased four very airy lightweight bras where you can take the cups out, which I do. Just hold the girls in place but doesn’t cut into your skin, so hey maybe I’m on trend! Send pics Corey! Ha ha

  17. During covid I started to wear a sports bra or a wireless bra. My underwire bras are just TOO uncomfortable. But due to my top size and age, I do need to wear some type of bra.

  18. Going braless is great, till the weight on one’s chest begins to feel like a burden. It happens! Also, I may be only a C-cup, but going braless wearing anything but an overcoat attracts attention I don’t want. So I wear a bra. I mean, even at home, my husband will become very affectionate when I don’t have a bra on. Works wonders when I want him sweet. -Kate

  19. Maybe that is why I love being in my pj’s all day.
    Didn’t know.

  20. Swing low, sweet Chariot, the words of that song come to mind, would be more comfortable maybe, but shape and form makes it a necessity!

  21. The French invented both the bra and the guillotine. One was for a life sentence, the other for a death sentence.
I remember wanting a “training bra” when I was about 13 years old…with nothing to train.Almost everyone in my girl scout troupe had one. My mother thought I’d go “off the rails”if I had “one of those”.When I did get one, I remember several girlfriends snapping the backstrap, as if to say,”Welcome to teendom”.

  22. Donna Boucher

    haha….no pictures.
My katie goes braless quite a bit.
I don’t mind… cause I was a little free girl myself once upon a time.
It’s the not shaving of the underarms I don’t care for.

  23. oh my, I had almost forgotten the braless movement in the 1960’s , flower children, hippie vans, Woodstock. I never went braless myself, and I certainly wouldn’t now–it would not be a good look…although, I do prefer going braless at home.
