The glassware line up from different eras

but still serving up the same brew.

When in doubt serve champagne.

Champagne is one drink in France

that can be served anytime of the day or night.

I like that.

It doesn't have to be for a special reason.

This beauty is a Louis sixteen style champagne glass.

I found six of them in a dusty box at a flea market.

Dust not longer claims them.

Antiquewineglass18thcen_2

A rare eighteen century (1700s) an aperitif glass.

The base of glasses this old

often have wider base and are

Slightly uneven in shape, and lightweight.

This one is filled purposefully with marbles as to remind me to be careful with it.

Hopefully, it will last another two hundred years.

Antiquerosecoloredglass

A deep rose colored aperitif glass from the 1950s.

Antiquewineglass

A 1900s French antique bistro glass

 etched with the word: "fete"

(Feast- celebration)

Paper cups are a rarity unless at a fast food joint.

I love France for that even if I have to wash every glass by hand.

As evening falls

and the stars appear

dazzling as the guests

 dinner sounds are heard

glasses are raised

singsong spills

wetting one's lip

a kiss to the rim.

Absolutely love, love, love the rose coloured glass as well as the Art Deco one at the very top! You certainly have the finding knack!!

I moved to France six years ago and started buying glassware, not so much to use but to admire the beauty of it. I have examples of the top two in your post, and many, many more – cabinets filled with glasses for wine, champagne, beer, cordials and absinthe. I think your glass with the stars may be for absinthe because of the reservoir in the bottom. If you ever find another – let me know! Sante’!

Very interesting. Oh to drink champagne from the second glass would be such a treat!

  5. I love the wonkiness of the aperitif glass, but oh that glass etched with stars…divine.
    cheers!

  6. The glass with twinkling stars is provocative but the painted juice glass brings a childish grin. They are all lovely.

I’m in love with that first glass. Will you be selling?

  8. Birds of a feather…I love glassware from a time gone by! Thanks for sharing a glimpse of yours. I am always on the lookout for a new one that makes my heart sing. Especially if it’s one lone glass. That makes me think that it’s my duty to give it a new home. Don’t you agree?

  9. All beautiful and fun to see. Glassware and crystal are cheap at auction here, no doubt due to earthquake risk.

  10. Love the glasses. I inherited some beauties from my mother….from the twenties, the other twenties. She bought them from estate sales.
My appreciation for vintage came from her.
    Thanks for this…

  11. Gorgeous glasses!
I remember when the red glasses were popular in the 1950’s and 60’s.
