Blackberry Teardrops

Blackberries

Very few this year, I stead of stained hands from blackberry juice I had more scratches than berries, and those I did pick were not plump. The handful above is after a mile of walking along dried-up berry bushes, the vegetation aching for water.

Nevertheless, I am determined to find some more to make at least one pot of jam.

  1. The heat has been so extreme. I hope you can find more of your precious berries.

  2. I hope you do! The blackberry plants around our neighborhood were chopped down last year.A small container of the berries is $6 at grocery stores. Cheaper to buy jam than to make it and not as much fun.

  3. My golden raspberries didn’t do well this year either. I never get much from it anyway. The birds get most of them along with the weird little grapes next to that raspberry bush.

  4. I’m impressed with your self-control. I would have rationalized that if there weren’t enough for jam that I should pop them into my mouth! Hope you’re successful in your hunt.
