When Gabriel entered the park that he goes to every day, he noticed a recently installed massive Christmas tree. It stopped him in his tracks instant joyous emotion filled his little being. When you are three years old and sometimes older, when an overwhelming emotion fills your being, finding words to express the enormity can scatter and not come forth. Gabriel was in awe.
Chelsea sent me a video of the moment, and I freeze-framed some of the images to show you here on my blog. His hand movements expressed his thoughts, and his words started with many cute sounds.
You can see his little hand reaching toward the tree; he told his mom he wanted it.
Two little fingers pointing, one towards the desired Christmas tree and the other towards their home.
Gabriel said they could pick up the tree and take it home.
Because "…Truly, truly, truly, truly." was all he could muster.
Truly as his heart desired to have that big, bright, beautiful Christmas tree.
Truly or as he repeated in French, "Vraiment."
Chelsea questioned Gabriel, "Do you think it will fit in our house? Where would we put it?"
Sweetly, oh so sweetly, he looked at the tree and pondered the question his mother asked of him. With that, Chelsea said, "Maybe we could put it in your bedroom?"
And with that, he smiled the biggest smile.
He knew it wouldn't fit, but the idea of it was what mattered. His desire was true, and his imagination let it grow in his treasure chest of memories to have and hold, even if he wasn't aware of putting it there, like seeds of goodness for years to grow upon.
Ah, to be a child where life is full of surprises, goodness, discovery, imagination, big Christmas trees, and questions of importance that are answered with honesty, silliness, sweetness, and love rolled up in one happy note: Life is for you to be part of with curiosity and the challenge to explore it.
