Kitchen Floor Picnic

The heat was unbearable, rendering it impossible to step outside. The weather in Provence evokes memories of growing up in my hometown, Willows, where scorching summers meant enduring triple-digit temperatures throughout the day. A mere ninety degrees was considered a decent day. Provence weather these last few years is reminding me of summers in Willows.

Luckily, our house has thick stone walls and cool tiled floors, a sanctuary from the summer’s heat.

Opting for a change of plans, Gabriel and I decided to have a picnic on the kitchen floor. It was the perfect escape from the oppressive heat, allowing us to savor the moment without melting into a puddle outside.

    isn’t that the sweetest thing

  2. Plus, hot air rises, so it’s coolest on the floor.

Stay cool, hot here in WI, suppose to be 84 later today, not as bad as your heat, tho.

I live in your old neck of the woods (Chico). This weekend was 112 in my back yard. I am looking forward to a possible 90 one day this week. Seems the whole world is roasting this year. Stay cool !

This reminds me of when my son was still a kid; we used to have a “carpet picnic” when we couldn’t have one outside on rainy days…
