Sacha’s Photos of the Northern Lights

Sacha’s Photos of the Northern Lights

Sacha had been discussing his plans to take photos of the Northern Lights,

crossing his fingers that Mother Nature would be on his side.

Sacha said, "There was a small chance of seeing the Northern Lights on July 13th after the forecast changed."

Nonetheless, he decided to hike up the mountain with some friends.

Preparing the camera equipment and setting up some of them for long exposure shots.

Then fingers crossed they awaited the celestial spectacle.

As fate would have it, Sacha's lenses captured the Aurora Borealis,

which was not visible to the naked eye.

Have you ever seen the Aurora Borealis?

I have once when flying over Canada. At first, I thought I was dreaming so I blinked my eyes a few times.

But, there it was ribbons of light dancing in the evening sky.

I have seen them once over our house in central Michigan, which is quite unusual. We were driving home from an evening event, must have been about midnight. They were fascinating. We have a home in northern Michigan and they are seen more often there, but we have never caught them. Cloudy weather hampered them this last week. Sacha’s photos are glorious! Can he tell us how long they lasted? Nina

Beautiful photos, and, yes, I have seen the Northern Lights. Apparently, in the late 40s, conditions were similar to those currently enabling the Aurora Borealis to be visible in some places in the U.S. We had just moved into the house my father had built on rural land in northwest Missouri, very close to the Iowa line, and we saw the Northern Lights more than once. I seem to recall that my parents, although interested enough that they drew them to the attention of my sister and me, had seen them before. I wonder if part of this was because the skies were still so dark in that rural area where electricity had just become available to many farms.

The Northern Lights truly are visions of wonder. Growing up in Michigan, we spent our Summers “ up north”, and had several occasions to experience what my father always referred to as “The Face of God”.

  12. Yes I have seen them and it’s a sight you will never ever forget
Thanks for the beautiful photographs Sacha

  13. Yes, I saw them once while living in Ontario Canada, just outside Ottawa. We pulled the car over to the side of the road. Stood there in awe. Totally magical. The colours danced across the sky.
    Thanks Sacha, and Corey….

  14. Oh Wow! Thank you for sharing with us. I’m in the Portland area and was hoping they’d get this far, but no. So Happy Sacha was able to get these photos.
