Flowers Never Make Noise

flowers never make noise

Elena, Sacha's girlfriend, shared with me an encounter that she had recently. While walking from the metro, a man was ahead of her, pulling a portable shopping cart …

As a man pulled his portable shopping cart full of flowers up the stairs, the loud clangs of the metal frame were jarring to the ears, echoing through the metro station with a sharp intensity. The petals bounced back and forth, seemingly applauding their existence. Elena walked past the man, who then apologized for the noise he was making. With her kind smile, she replied,

"Flowers never make noise."

The man stopped, caught off guard by Elena's unexpected response. His face softened as he explained that his mother had recently passed away, and as she adored flowers, he had bought a bunch to honor her memory. The man's hidden emotion struck Elena. As a gesture of gratitude for Elena's kindness, the man plucked a flower from his cart and handed it to her.

May we, too, see the beauty that can be found amidst the noise of everyday life.

Such a beautiful reminder that it takes so very, very little to be kind and yet makes such a profound impact in someone’s day, perhaps life.

  3. Love made visible in a moment… Thank you for sharing Elena’s experience with your readers.
Do all the good you can,
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
as long as ever you can.”

Thanks for sharing this precious moment with us – it’s so good to take time for others when we are able, when we feel prompted ❤️

  7. What a lovely story. We never know whose life we touch by a simple gesture, a kind word or a smile. In today’s world, it is especially important to exude kindness. Elena sounds like a special person, but then, we all know that Sacha wouldn’t settle for less.

  8. A brief encounter. Kindness. Opening of hearts.

Merci pour ce petit mot très heureux ; I needed this after watching a most moving piece by a journalist regarding the current conflict (such a soft word for war) in Gaza.
Flowers not only never make noise, they never hurt anyone or anything.
    Long live flowers !

So wonderful to capture the essence of nature outside of nature! Now humming the Simon and Garfunkel song.
