I wish we could all sit close wrapping our arms around each other – your thoughts Cory remind me it is like partially waking from a nightmare full of terror wanting our Moms to help us feel better.
I do not think one word will do it… I do think the losses are great – realizing we do not have the skill or influence that would make others listen and stop therefore, we are helpless which is not a good feeling and to have been gaslighted is to have been betrayed, often from the very ones we trusted the most which brings another round of pain.
All these losses remind me we are moving through the 5 stages of grief – A pithy statement in my collection that helps me during the anger stage – “Don’t blame people for disappointing you, blame yourself for expecting too much from them.”
For years I could not accept as I thought the last in the 5 steps proclaimed till I finally realized it was not the situation or what I lost or was railing against that I had to accept it was me – I had to accept that I had certain skills that did not include the ability to fix this painful situation and if I felt pain, helpless, angry, even having begged God with no answer, feeling trapped beyond words that I was going to have to accept that I was ‘gifted’ with those feelings rather than wanting to fix or disown them. Also, I could only pray for the strength to care for myself, my family, my home knowing in simplicity there is wisdom therefore, do the dishes, fold the laundry, water the plants… carefully and deliberately make better what I do have control over.
Secretly while I’m doing the simple in my heart of hearts I still hope that my simple actions of love are like the Butterfly activity in Madagascar that affects the weather in North America.

In today’s world the pain is excruciating and at times paralyzing. So many people are suffering. Hatred, suspicion, paranoia, mistrust, fuel atrocities. A door has been opened for darkness to consume our world and evil seems to have free rein. Tolerance for diversity and difference are not to be allowed. What is our response to be? Can love win? We must not protect our aching hearts by turning away from the pain. We must continue to be the voice of love and light. We must continue to be a loving presence in a world that is broken and hurting. Thank you for speaking what so many are feeling. Thank you for so often giving love a voice. May the love and light that fills our hearts shine and may that light become a blinding force for healing and love to overcome.

If there is one word that could express to us, our world today, and what is taking place, right here and in so many other countries, it would take pages and pages of a dictionary to even “spell” that one word. I know, I am very fortunate to have the life I live, and I thank God every single night in my prayers, but Most of my prayers are said for those that are not as fortunate as I am. It is just a little bit that I am able to do, God help us all…

  5. Oh Corey, it completely drains me sometimes but never worse than those who suffer directly. 💔 I don’t think there are any words that I can expound at the moment. Look at America. It’s all so hard to understand the minds of hate, greed and power. On a much lighter subject, it was so kind of you to give gifts to your readers, books and antique smalls. What joy you spread outwardly from your little world really does make a difference. It makes all the difference to some. We must do what we can, that’s what we must do. xx
