An update to our donors: We cannot thank each of you enough for the outpour of support to make this evacuation a reality for Mohamed and his family. Although a ceasefire would enable the many other families in Gaza to be protected from constant bombardment, that is not the reality we currently live in. But despite the circumstances in Gaza, we have come together to ensure the safety of Mohamed's family, and for that we are grateful to you all.
Mohamed and his family have successfully registered for evacuation and are currently waiting for Israeli security clearance to be authorized to leave. If cleared, Mohamed and his family should be in Egypt within 2-3 weeks. The fundraiser ceiling was raised from our initial goal to 20k because the Egyptian authorities have been continuously increasing the fees for evacuation. Although we have met our goal for evacuation, we have increased the donation goal to 25k as they are also looking to gather additional funds to cover their living expenses once they arrive in Egypt. Due to the influx of tens of thousands of Gazans, the cost of living in Cairo has skyrocketed. We will continue to update you as we have more information on their evacuation process.
