The Polar Plunge in the Canal

Would you, could you,

jump in the canal?

Two cousins, had a plan to recall.

When they were little boys,

They’d leap in the canal, without fear, without fright.

with the summer sun high and bright,

The water was freezing,
as cold as could be,

But they’d laugh and they’d splash,

so wild and so free.

Down by the bank, where the weeds still grow,

They’d count to three fast,

and then off they’d go.

Years passed and their memories grew,

Of jumping and laughing, by the canal were they played.

Twenty of years later, on a chilly November day

Oh, the air it felt just right,

They decided to do it again—oh, what a delight.

Would you, could you,

take the polar plunge?

A freezing cold SLAP!

But they laughed, that challenging cackle

For the thrill of the moment was their’s to tackle!

And so they both jumped,

with a splash and a grin,

Reliving their childhood, jumping right in.

Would you, could you, jump in the canal?

Oh yes, they both could, and they did.
