The Most Original Gift I Received This Christmas

One of the best Christmas gifts I’ve ever received was from Yann several years ago. Every morning he brings me a cup of tea in bed, or of my choice of place.

The most original Christmas gift I’ve ever received was this year when Olivia gave me a carrot.

What is one of your most best gifts given and/or an original gifts that you’ve ever received at Christmas?

  1. I knew a little girl who only wanted a carrot from Santa!

I have wanted a bird bath in our back yard for ages. Graeme keeps saying no, no, no! He hates mowing around things. We have lots of birds. Our friends next door have one & whilst we were sitting outside a crow had the most wonderful bath. Graeme still kept saying no!
This Christmas my son & daughter inlaw gave me……you guessed it….a bird bath. I was ecstatic & even Graeme surrendered. Gotta love my boy. ❤️❤️

  2. I give Farmboy Husband and a few of our nearest and dearest wedges of São Jorge cheese that’s made in Topo, SJ., in the Azores — the same tiny village where one of my great-grandfathers was born and raised! (I’ve actually been to that cheese factory, as well as another one on the island).

I’m able to order it online from a shop in Fall River, Massachusetts. Alas, shipping nowadays costs more than the cheese, but it’s worth it for a gift I know people will use and enjoy (and, I hope, maybe even share a bit with their own family or friends).

Probably one of the most relaxing Christmas’s, which was a gift, was staying in a little seaside enclave on the East Coast of the South Island of NZ. We rented a BnB and we realised once we got there that most of the inhabitants did not arrive till after Christmas Day, it did not even have a coffee stop, but, we had the whole place to ourselves until two days after Christmas. So, peace and quiet meant we opened our small amount of Christmas gifts, books, and sat in bed and read them until midday, cups of tea in hand…then I cooked a Christmas meal and then we read more books after a walk with our dog. The most relaxing and blissful Christmas of all time! This Christmas was spent at another beachy village with 1.5 yr old grandson and his parents, equally blissful but for a different reason…family! Hugs to all for a Happy 2025 and hopefully one where peace can prevail. Jennie, NZ

  4. Hands down my favorite gift was when my son and daughter gave me a recording of them singing, Baby It’s Cold Outside!!!

  5. I think it was around our 10th year of marriage my husband and I really were poor as church mice and we set a five dollar limit on gifts we were giving each other. Jim gave me a red hairbrush. I was thrilled because he thought about something I needed and I didn’t have to give him a list. When that hairbrush broke, I threw it away and I am so sorry that I did because I’d love to have it still even though it was broken. A few years ago, my granddaughter gave me a box of pencils because she knows I prefer to write in pencil rather than pen. This year, I got a bag of circus peanut candy from my son and his family, and I burst into tears. Not because I was disappointed, but because it was my father‘s favorite candy. I still want to cry when I think about it. The candy itself is disgusting, but the memories very tender.

  6. I would say a carrot tops the list of most unusual.
    What a creative gift giver.

  7. I need to ask if carrots are one of your favorite vegetables? Or is she very aware at such a young age that you are a vegetarian? I would have gone in the kitchen with her and made carrot coins with a butter and brown sugar sauce. I would have put it in the fanciest dish I have too! That is just priceless!

    1. Her parents gave me a juicer. I think that is the reason. Your circle carrots sound delicious. Although Olivia only likes peanut butter, bananas, milk, pasta with cream or pesto, and chocolate

  8. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
