One of the highlights of today’s renovation adventure in Laurie’s second home in Italy was a trip to our favorite warehouse, packed with recycled items and antiques. After a long day of putting our plans into action, we headed over to find some pieces to fill the gaps in our project—old nails, hinges, light switches—anything to give the renovation that authentic touch.

Have you ever gone looking for old stuff on wheeled office chairs through long aisles of a warehouse? Let me tell you, you see things on a whole new level. Full throttle, twirling and whirling, laughing along the way. To stop, you have to put your feet on the ground, skid to a halt, and then toss whatever you find onto your lap—all while rolling through the aisles to the warehouse’s soundtrack 1979s disco music. It is a delightful, crazy way to shop.
“-You know, I was
I was wondering, you know
If you could keep on
Because the force
It’s got a lot of power
And it make me feel like, ah
It make me feel like, ooh-“ Micheal Jackson 1979

Of course, this isn’t how anyone there was looking for stuff, but since we were in the back of the warehouse, with no one else around, and after days of renovation work, it was the perfect way to reignite our creativity. It was a simple reminder that every day can be an adventure—you just have to find that spark to make your heart click a little faster.
”-Friday night and the strip is hot
Sun’s gone down and they’re out to trot
Spirit’s high and legs look hot
Do you wanna get down?
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep-“ Donna Summer
Since two of my favorite things to do is go antiquing and dancing the warehouse disco music is going to stick in my head.
